EU residence registration assistance in Denmark

If you are moving to Denmark under EU residence rules, the relevant documents and steps depend on your residence basis and family circumstances. Relocate to Denmark helps you organise the preparation and understand how residence documentation connects with local registration.

This service is intended for people who want practical support with the relevant process. Tell us your nationality, reason for moving and whether your partner or children are joining you.

Begin with your nationality and residence basis

EU/EEA and Swiss citizens can have residence under the relevant EU rules, with different bases such as work, study or self-support. The registration preparation should reflect the basis that actually applies to you.

Nordic citizens have their own rules and should not automatically be treated as applicants for an EU residence document. Tell us if you are a citizen of Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden so the appropriate practical route can be considered.

We ask about the purpose of your move, expected duration and any family members. This gives the preparation a clear starting point instead of treating all European moves as identical.

Understand your EU residence document

An EU residence document records a residence right under EU rules; it should not be described as an employment-related work permit for a non-EU applicant. The relevant document and process depend on your nationality and residence basis. SIRI provides the official information for the application.

Our sample is an educational illustration of a paper EU residence document with fictional details. It is not an exact reproduction of a SIRI-issued document and has no legal validity. Do not copy its wording or use it for an application; rely on the document and instructions supplied by the authority.

Organise the supporting information

For EU residence as a worker, SIRI's published document list includes passport identification or national ID and an employment contract or employer declaration. Its current guidance specifies conditions for the employer document's date and signature. Check those conditions before relying on an older or unsigned document. Other residence bases require their own evidence.

The agreed service turns the relevant requirements into a checklist, checks the materials supplied and identifies questions to resolve before the next application or appointment step.

Reviewing documents before the next step gives you an opportunity to clarify missing information, inconsistent names or employment details that do not match your actual arrangements. We explain who should provide corrections or additional evidence rather than filling gaps with assumptions.

Understand the distinction between residence documentation and CPR

An EU residence document and municipal civil registration are different tasks. Under EU rules, a worker's rights should not be described as depending solely on having received the residence document. The document remains relevant to the local registration process where required.

If your next task is CPR registration, your address, identification and relevant residence documentation need consideration together. We can scope that work alongside EU registration or as a later service when the necessary information is available.

Moving with family

Your partner or children may have a different nationality or residence position from you. Tell us about each family member at the start so we can assess the relevant service and document preparation.

A family member's requirements should not be assumed to be identical to the main applicant's. Where another specialist process is needed, we explain the service boundary before accepting the work.

Our registration support process

Share your circumstances and completed steps. We clarify the relevant preparation, then provide a quotation describing the document review, appointment guidance and other tasks included.

After the scope is accepted, we help organise the materials and the next action. You complete any personal attendance or identity verification required by the authority. Further registration and arrival tasks are included only when specified in the proposal.

Timing and cost

The relevant basis, document completeness and appointment process affect the timetable. We discuss preparation separately from external handling and do not promise that all registration and practical tasks will be completed on the same day.

Our fee covers the agreed private assistance. Other costs, including any translations or additional professional services, are explained separately. If you already have the relevant residence document, tell us so we can focus on your remaining need.

Your questions

Frequently asked questions

No. EU residence registration and employment-related work and residence permits for non-EU applicants are different processes. The appropriate service depends on your nationality, residence basis and plans in Denmark, rather than the general fact that you are moving for work.

We start by clarifying those circumstances and the tasks you need help with. For example, preparing an EU residence document and preparing for municipal registration are related stages, but they are not interchangeable. Tell us what you already have so we can propose relevant support without duplicating completed work.

Please tell us your nationality before booking. Nordic citizens are covered by different residence arrangements, so an EU residence document application should not automatically be added to your relocation service. You may still want practical help with municipal registration or getting established.

We can review which preparation and coordination you need based on your actual move. Include your expected stay, Danish accommodation and any family members. The aim is to define useful support for you, rather than sell a registration package designed for a different category of newcomer.

No. The relevant authority issues the residence document. We can help with the document preparation, review and coordination stated in your agreement, but we do not issue official residence documents or act as the decision-making authority.

If you would like help, tell us the basis of your planned residence and the stage you have reached. We explain the proposed assistance and your own responsibilities before work begins. The example image on this page is clearly marked as an illustration; it is not a valid document or an exact SIRI reproduction.

We can assess the support required for each family member and coordinate agreed tasks with your own move. Family members’ nationalities, relationships and existing documents can affect which preparation is relevant, so one person’s circumstances should not be assumed to apply to everyone.

Include who is moving, whether you will arrive together and what has already been arranged. We will distinguish the work that can be coordinated as a family from individual preparation. The quotation identifies the people and tasks included, together with any additional fees for separate services.

Yes. A document review may be appropriate if you intend to manage the process yourself but want help checking the material you are preparing. We first clarify the relevant process and what kind of review you need, rather than assuming a full relocation package is required.

Tell us what is already arranged and which questions concern you. The quotation will explain the review’s scope, the information needed and whether any follow-up is included. If you later want coordination or other arrival support, that can be assessed and quoted separately.
